Michael C. Hall is back in blood-soaked form. Dexter: Resurrection premieres today, with the first two episodes now available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. and U.K. The series continues the saga of Dexter Morgan, the conflicted forensic analyst with a hidden life and body count.
The story kicks off not long after the shocking conclusion of Dexter: New Blood, where Dexter was shot by his own son, Harrison. But death doesn’t stick. Instead, the new series reveals that Dexter survived the gunshot, waking from a coma to find his son missing and his past catching up at a sprint.

This chapter trades small-town shadows for big-city menace. Dexter sets out for New York City, hoping to track down Harrison and maybe patch up the wreckage of their fractured bond. But it’s not just about family. Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) resurfaces, and he’s got questions that could unravel everything. According to the show’s synopsis, “When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast.”
The series hints at more psychological depth and moral complexity than ever before. “As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined—and that the only way out is together,” reads the official description.

The cast brings serious firepower. Newcomers include Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, and David Dastmalchian. Fan favorites Jonathan Lithgow and Jimmy Smits return for cameos, revisiting iconic roles that helped define the original series.
Clyde Phillips, who previously led Dexter: Original Sin and New Blood, returns as showrunner, aiming to connect past and present with what may be the franchise’s most emotionally charged arc yet. From moral reckoning to the Manhattan skyline, Dexter: Resurrection looks to push the character deeper than ever before.
