‘Predator: Badlands’ Trailer Sees an Unlikely Alliance Between Hunter and Machine

Outcasts, Synths, and Apex Killers!

The latest trailer for Predator: Badlands offers a revealing glimpse into the most unconventional entry in the long-running sci-fi franchise. Director Dan Trachtenberg returns following the success of Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers, this time exploring new territory by centering the story on a young Predator who’s not here to terrorize, but to prove himself.

The film stars Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as Dek, a Yautja outcast described as a “runt” by his own species. Thrown into a hostile world known as Kalisk a so-called “Death Planet” Dek must earn his place among his people by hunting what’s ominously referred to as “a creature that can’t be killed.” Alongside him is Thia, played by Elle Fanning, a synthetic from the Weyland-Yutani bio-weapons division. Their unlikely partnership sets the tone for a very different kind of Predator film.

Visually, Badlands leans into sci-fi spectacle. The trailer is packed with explosive set-pieces, alien wildlife, and wide shots of a planet that’s both stunning and lethal. One of the most striking moments comes near the end, with the arrival of a massive combat mech, clearly built to take on the apex creature Dek is tracking. It’s the kind of third-act reveal designed to get fans buzzing.

This film also pushes the mythology further. There are unmistakable visual callbacks to both the Alien and Predator franchises, blending elements of both into a cohesive new world. While the trailer stops short of confirming a full crossover, the hints are unmistakable, from logos to environments to the overarching tone of corporate experiments gone wrong.

With Predator: Badlands, the franchise appears to be embracing evolution. By shifting perspective and focusing on a Predator with something to prove, it flips the traditional formula. Add in androids, alien monsters, and mechanized warfare, and this entry looks ready to expand the hunt into new and wilder territory.

Predator: Badlands is set to hit cinemas on November 7, 2025. With high-stakes action, fresh lore, and bold new direction, this could be the most ambitious chapter in the franchise yet. You can watch the trailer below.
