‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Begins Filming, As Focus Shifts to a New Team

Filming on ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 kicks off!

Filming has begun on the fourth season of Ted Lasso, marking the long-awaited return of Apple TV+’s feel-good football comedy. After wrapping up what was believed to be its final season in 2023, the Emmy-winning series is making a comeback, with a few new twists and a different kind of team.

Production kicked off this week in Kansas City, Missouri, with the core cast already back on set. Jason Sudeikis is once again leading the charge, joined by familiar faces Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, and Juno Temple. While the heart of the show remains rooted in English football, it’s clear this season is starting a little closer to home for Coach Lasso.

Season 3 concluded with Ted returning to the U.S. to spend time with his son, but that break won’t last long. Apple has confirmed that the new season will feature his return to Richmond, this time to coach a second-division women’s football team. It’s a shake-up that promises new dynamics and challenges, as well as plenty of opportunity for emotional growth and comedy alike.

The official synopsis reads, “Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would”

As reported by Variety several new cast members are joining the show, likely filling out the roster of the women’s squad. Among them are Faye Marsay, Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, and Abbie Hern. In a small but notable casting change, Grant Feely will step into the role of Ted’s son, Henry. Production is expected to continue in Kansas City before moving across the Atlantic to London.

Behind the scenes, new creative voices are entering the mix. Jack Burditt, known for his work on Last Man Standing, is among the executive producers this season. The series appears to be evolving in both cast and creative team, signaling that Ted Lasso is gearing up for a fresh chapter rather than a simple continuation.

A premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but with filming now underway, a 2026 release on Apple TV+ is likely. Until then, we’ll will be watching closely and waiting to see just how far the power of belief can take this new team.
