Apple TV+ is heading deep into the Alaskan wilderness this fall with The Last Frontier, a new thriller series anchored by Jason Clarke. Premiering globally on October 10, the 10-episode series kicks off with a double-episode debut, followed by weekly installments until early December.
At the center of the storm is Frank Remnick (Clarke), a U.S. Marshal stationed in one of the most isolated regions in the country. His routine patrols through snow-covered terrain take a dark turn when a prison transport plane crashes nearby, unleashing a mob of dangerous inmates into the wild. But as Remnick scrambles to regain control, it becomes clear this was no accident, it’s the beginning of something far more calculated.

Apple describes the series as “action-packed,” but the early teaser keeps its cards close to the chest. Quick flashes of snow, steel, and mayhem give little away, but the tone is unmistakable: gritty, tense, and full of dread. Think less Con Air, more No Country for Old Men…with frostbite.
The short teaser offers just a glimpse of the chaos to come. We see a range of inmates in orange jumpsuits, hinting at the volatile mix of personalities now scattered across the Alaskan wilderness. One stands out, he’s bound separately, restrained with extra security measures, just moments later the side of the aircraft erupts in an explosion. The plane then crashes into the snow-covered terrain below. And a set of first look images see Clarke’s U.S. Marshal Frank Remnick approach and investigate the wreckage.

In addition to Clarke, the cast includes Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, and Alfre Woodard. Directors John Curran and Sam Hargrave split helming duties across the season. Hargrave, known for his work on Extraction, brings his signature kinetic style, while Curran lends a quieter intensity.
Behind the scenes, The Last Frontier is created by Jon Bokenkamp (The Blacklist) and Richard D’Ovidio (The Call), both of whom also serve as executive producers alongside Clarke. With its stark setting, solid cast, and a premise that begs for chaos, The Last Frontier is positioning itself as one of Apple TV+’s flagship thrillers for the fall season.
