‘Good Fortune’ Drops Character Posters Featuring a Beaming Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves’ guardian angel has a plan!

Lionsgate has released a fresh set of character posters for Good Fortune, offering a closer look at the star-studded comedy ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and theatrical debut on October 17. The images showcase Keanu Reeves beaming warmly across a dubious-looking Aziz Ansari, while Seth Rogen stares off with the blank confidence of someone unsure of what the heck is happening to him.

Written and directed by Ansari, the film marks his feature debut and brings together Reeves, Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh. Reeves steps into unfamiliar territory as Gabriel, a slightly frayed guardian angel tasked with guiding delivery worker Arj, played by Ansari. Arj’s skepticism is immediate. “I usually stop people from texting and driving,” Gabriel says in the trailer, prompting Arj’s dry reply: “Great. I got stuck with a budget angel.”

The plot takes a sharp turn when Arj encounters tech mogul Jeff (Rogen), triggering a celestial mix-up that swaps their lives. Gabriel hopes the switch will teach them something profound about wealth, perspective, and humanity. Naturally, the plan unravels, Arj takes to billionaire living with enthusiasm, while Jeff tries to prove he can thrive with nothing.

Good Fortune comes after Ansari’s earlier directorial project, Being Mortal, was shelved in 2022. That film also featured Rogen and Palmer. This time, despite delays caused by the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, production wrapped in early 2024. With TIFF as the launch pad, the movie arrives with a balance of broad comedy and character-driven absurdity, buoyed by Reeves’ deadpan delivery and Ansari’s sharp timing.

The posters lean into the film’s playful contrasts, heavenly guidance paired with human messiness, and a visual clash between charm, confusion, and outright disbelief. With Reeves’ serene smile, Ansari’s side-eye, and Rogen’s bewilderment, and with off-kilter energy the film seems ready to deliver.

With its mix of supernatural meddling, life-swap chaos, and a cast clearly game for anything, Good Fortune looks set to combine crowd-pleasing humor with a few unexpected detours. Judging by the posters, the film is ready to embrace both its absurd premise and its star power.
