‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 5 Trailer Promises a Killer Return

The Arconia is back, and once again, trouble is knocking at its ornate doors. Hulu has unveiled the trailer for season five of Only Murders in the Building, and it wastes no time introducing the latest mystery to grip the show’s eccentric Upper West Side residents.

This time, the victim is Lester (Teddy Coluca), the building’s long-serving doorman. True-crime sleuths Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) take the case into their own hands, convinced his death is no mere accident. As Charles bluntly puts it in the trailer, the Arconia is “the most murderous building in New York.”

Returning cast members include Michael Cyril Creighton, Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Nathan Lane, and Richard Kind. But the season also brings a wave of high-profile newcomers: Renée Zellweger, Keegan-Michael Key, Christoph Waltz, Logan Lerman, Téa Leoni, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, and Jermaine Fowler.

According to Hulu, the investigation will send the trio far beyond the building’s art-deco hallways, unearthing a tangle of secrets involving billionaire power brokers, remnants of the old New York mob, and a shifting cityscape where familiar rules no longer apply. Old guard criminals clash with new, more ruthless players and the stakes are deadlier than ever.

The series, co-created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, blends murder-mystery intrigue with a sharply comic sensibility. Hoffman returns as showrunner, with Martin, Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, and JJ Philbin among the executive producers.

Season five of Only Murders in the Building premieres September 9 with a three-episode drop, followed by weekly installments. If history is any guide, the bodies may keep piling up, but so will the laughs.
