A newly released clip for In The Grey has surfaced via Fandango, offering a sharper glimpse into Guy Ritchie’s long-awaited action thriller. The film has been a long time coming. Shot more than two years ago in Tenerife, it arrives after a surprisingly busy stretch for Ritchie, who has released multiple films and television projects in the interim. Now, the focus finally shifts back to this particular project and the new footage makes it clear that the wait hasn’t dulled its edge.
At the centre of the story are Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal, playing elite operatives navigating a dangerous world of covert missions and shifting allegiances. Eiza González rounds out the core trio, overseeing operations with a mix of control and unpredictability. The clip leans into atmosphere rather than exposition, quick cuts, sharp exchanges, and a sense that nothing is entirely under control. It’s stylish, but there’s tension underneath. That’s the hook. Check out the the new clip below.
Ritchie’s fingerprints are all over it. Fast dialogue. Dry humour. Characters who operate in moral grey zones without apology. It’s familiar territory, but that’s not necessarily a drawback. The supporting cast adds further weight, including Rosamund Pike and Kristofer Hivju, both of whom appear poised to complicate matters further. The tone is confident, bordering on cocky.
That synopsis frames the central conflict clearly. “In The Grey follows a covert team of elite operatives who live in the global shadows, as comfortable wielding power and influence as they are automatic weapons and high explosives.” It sets the stage for a mission that escalates quickly, what starts as a retrieval job becomes something far more volatile. Stakes rise. Plans unravel. Survival becomes the only objective.

There’s also a sense of convergence here. Cavill and González reunite after previous collaborations, while Gyllenhaal continues his working relationship with Ritchie. The chemistry in the clip suggests a dynamic built on tension rather than trust. It’s not about heroes. It’s about professionals doing what they’re paid to do, no matter the cost. Clean lines. Dirty work.
The film is set to hit US cinemas on 15 May, although there has yet to be a confirmed UK release date, today’s new poster does proclaim “In theaters everywhere May 15th”. Make of that what you will. For now, the clip does exactly what it needs to, no more, no less. You can also check out the full trailer below, and a brand new poster.
