Leonardo DiCaprio plays Ernest Burkhart. Set in the 1920s, the film focuses on the FBI’s investigation into the Osage tribe murders in Oklahoma.
The trailer shows Ernest Burkhart searching for ‘Black Gold’ and his relationship with Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone). He is also interrogated by the FBI’s Tom White played by Jesse Plemons.

In the 1920s, the Osage tribe became extremely wealthy after oil was discovered on their land. They earnt more than $30 million in annual revenue at the peak of the boom.
William K. Hale, Ernest Burkhart’s Uncle encouraged him to marry Osage member Mollie Kyle. The murders went beyond the one family with estimates that 24 Osage Indians died in violent or suspicious deaths throughout the early 1920s. At the time it being called a ‘reign of terror.’
