Ben Affleck’s ‘The Accountant 2’ Heads to Prime Video This Week

After over a month in theaters, The Accountant 2 is making the move to streaming. The action-thriller, led by Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, will arrive on Prime Video on June 5, just weeks after crossing the $100 million mark at the domestic box office. It becomes one of Amazon’s top-grossing original films to date, trailing only Red One and The Beekeeper.

The sequel reunites Affleck with director Gavin O’Connor and writer Bill Dubuque, the same team behind the 2016 original. Cynthia Addai-Robinson and J.K. Simmons return to round out the cast, while Anna Kendrick, who co-starred in the first film, does not appear this time around. Instead, the sequel shifts focus to the Wolff brothers as they investigate the death of Ray King, the Treasury agent played by Simmons.

The Accountant 2 has received a warm reception from critics and audiences alike. It currently holds a 76% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, along with a 92% audience rating. The film’s balance of high-stakes action and a more comedic route to storytelling this time around, seems to have struck a chord with fans.

Following the events of the first film which ended with Christian Wolff (Affleck) and Braxton (Bernthal) reconciling after years of estrangement — the sequel explores their uneasy partnership as they navigate a conspiracy that ties back to their past. It’s part gunfight, part family drama, and the kind of sequel that aims to build rather than repeat.

Streaming availability will likely give the film another boost in viewership. Its June 5 release on Prime Video comes as the film finishes its theatrical run, offering fans who missed the big screen experience a second chance to catch up.
