The emotional British drama We Live in Time is now available to stream on Netflix for viewers in the UK and Ireland. Directed by John Crowley, the film first premiered in 2024 and has now made its way to the platform for the first time since its theatrical run.
Starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, the film follows a love story that unfolds over a decade, told through a non-linear lens. Garfield plays Tobias, a recently divorced breakfast food salesman, while Pugh takes on the role of Almut, a chef with a complicated past. Their relationship begins when she accidentally hits him with her car, an unorthodox meet-cute that sets the film in motion.

The plot drifts through key moments in their lives, highlighting the joys, grief, and unexpected challenges that define their years together. As the official synopsis puts it: “Almut and Tobias are brought together in a surprise encounter that changes their lives. As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken.”
We Live in Time was praised for its intimate performances and emotional weight, earning a 79% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 220 reviews. Audiences responded similarly, with the film currently holding an 83% user score. The chemistry between Garfield and Pugh has been a particular highlight among viewers and critics alike. IndieWire called it “beautifully performed,” while Empire described the film as a “pure tearjerker.”

Joining the lead duo are Grace Delaney as their daughter Ella, along with Lee Braithwaite, Aoife Hinds, and Adam James rounding out the supporting cast. The screenplay was penned by Nick Payne, known for his work in both stage and screenwriting.
Streaming now on Netflix in the UK and Ireland, We Live in Time offers a contemplative look at the impermanence of love, the complexity of time, and the beauty of everyday moments…just don’t forget the tissues.
