Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for their upcoming monster sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire. The trailer depicts the Titan duo teaming up to confront a massive army of giant apes while also hinting at the presence of an additional villain.
In 2021, Godzilla vs. Kong served as a crossover between the Godzilla and King Kong franchises. Directed by Adam Wingard, the film depicts the epic clash between the two iconic titans as they engage in a colossal battle for supremacy. The New Empire escalates the threat to the next level, compelling the necessity for their unlikely alliance.
The new trailer predominantly showcases the spectacular monster carnage, highlighting Kong and Godzilla’s collaboration against the emerging threat. Additionally, it provides a subtle hint at the presence of the ice-spewing titan, Shimo, whose purple eyes peer out from the darkness. Shimo is a reptilian titan possessing ice powers and dorsals akin to Godzilla’s.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows: This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.
The cast includes returning members from the previous film, such as Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle with Dan Stevens and his cockney accent joining the monsterverse in a lead role.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is directed by Adam Wingard and written by Terry Rossio, Jeremy Slater and Simon Barrett.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will be in cinemas worldwide March 29.
