Nearly thirty years since the explosive success of 1994’s Speed, fans of the dynamic pairing of Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock might have reason to celebrate. Both actors have recently expressed their desire to collaborate on a new film, with Reeves going as far as to suggest they would excel in a potential ‘Speed 3’.
In a shared interview on the 50 MPH podcast, Reeves and Bullock voiced their excitement about the possibility of a third installment in the Speed franchise. Reeves stated, “I mean, we would just do fantastic.”

Under the direction of Dutch filmmaker Jan de Bont, Speed depicted the high-stakes scenario of a bus wired to detonate if its speed fell below 50 miles per hour. Reeves starred as an LAPD officer aboard the bus, with Bullock in the role of the driver. The film proved to be a blockbuster hit, raking in over $350 million.
Despite Bullock and De Bont reuniting for the sequel Speed 2: Cruise Control in 1997, Reeves chose not to return due to script concerns. The movie performed poorly at the box office and is often cited as one of the worst sequels ever made.

Both actors have consistently stated their readiness to return for a third film, on the condition that the story and script meet their standards. Reeves has emphasized his requirement for “a great story, a great script.” before considering a return to ‘Speed 3’. Bullock also expressed her desire to work with Reeves again before the end of her career. For the full podcast head to 50 MPH podcast.
