Universal has released the final trailer for M3GAN 2.0, teasing an upgraded return for the AI doll who made a killer first impression back in 2023. The sequel arrives in theaters June 27 and promises a bigger, bolder, and bloodier follow-up to the original sleeper hit.
This time around, the tables are turned. M3GAN isn’t the threat — she’s the defense. After a rogue defense contractor weaponizes her stolen technology to create a next-gen assassin named Amelia, M3GAN is brought back online with some lethal new enhancements. Think of it as a full system upgrade… with vengeance in the patch notes.

Gerard Johnstone returns to the director’s chair, reuniting with screenwriter Akela Cooper. Once again, producers James Wan and Jason Blum are backing the project under their Atomic Monster and Blumhouse banners. Returning cast members include Allison Williams as Gemma and Violet McGraw as Cady. New faces joining the fight include Ivanna Sakhno as the deadly Amelia, along with Jemaine Clement, and Timm Sharp.
The official synopsis reveals that “the only option is to resurrect M3GAN and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal.” That means we can expect M3GAN 2.0 to push well past the uncanny valley into action-horror spectacle territory, it even channels Terminator 2 with A.I. on A.I. action.

In a key moment from the trailer, M3GAN reflects on her last downfall: “I cared too much.” Gemma is quick to clarify: “It was the murdering, M3GAN.” That dark humor is alive and well — only now it’s wrapped in high-stakes action and a much higher body count.
The showdown between M3GAN and Amelia appears to be the main event, with Amelia hunting down anyone tied to her creation, including Gemma and Cady. As the threat level climbs, it’s clear the rebooted M3GAN is more than ready to throw down.
M3GAN 2.0 opens exclusively in theaters June 27.
