Along with the release of the new trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters early critic reactions for the show have been hugely positive with it currently sitting with a score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The new trailer suggests there are plenty of secrets to be discovered. As the trailer opens we see Godzilla as he destroys San Francisco and it’s revealed that Monarch were already there documenting the disaster. The series has Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell playing the same character decades apart as they try to discover the origins of Godzilla and Monarch.

Godzilla in its current incarnation was brought back to the big screen in 2014 by Gareth Edwards. The film revolves around the awakening of the colossal creature, which triggers a series of cataclysmic events. Humanity struggles to contain the chaos and understand the creature’s origins.
At the time the film was hailed for its spectacular visual effects and is considered a thrilling and modern take on the classic monster.

The official synopsis for the series reads, “Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch.”
“Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army Officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.”
