Pete Davidson Unravels in the Psychological Horror ‘The Home’

Lionsgate has unveiled the first official trailer for The Home, a new horror-thriller starring Pete Davidson and directed by The Purge creator James DeMonaco. The film, set for a July 25, 2025 theatrical release, takes viewers into a twisted senior care facility where something is very wrong behind closed doors.

Davidson plays Max, a court-ordered community service worker assigned to a retirement home. On the surface, it’s a routine placement—until he’s warned to steer clear of the fourth floor. The wing is reserved for residents needing “special care,” though what that means quickly becomes a lot more sinister.

“There’s something very wrong with this place,” says one of the elderly residents in the trailer. From there, things spiral fast: hallucinations, strange experiments, and a shocking lunge from a previously docile resident “Hey man, I’m not going to hurt you,” Max says, seconds before the man attacks.

This marks a stark tonal change for Davidson, best known for his work on Saturday Night Live and in comedic roles. Director James DeMonaco emphasized this darker shift in a recent statement: “When I set out to create The Home, I aimed to capture the spine-chilling eeriness of 70’s horror, where suspense simmers and ultimately erupts into glorious chaos. Joining me is my Staten Island brother, Pete Davidson, who unveils a darker, dramatic side as his character navigates a bizarre group of residents in an old age home. The growing tension culminates in an epic blood-soaked finale, designed to leave audiences gasping, terrified, and cheering. I can’t wait for everyone to visit The Home. Cover your eyes, folks.”

The supporting cast includes John Glover and Bruce Altman. The screenplay was penned by DeMonaco and Adam Cantor.

As the trailer reveals, The Home isn’t playing for cheap thrills. It’s pushing into unsettling psychological territory, with a setting that turns the quiet familiarity of elder care into a nightmare landscape. This isn’t a place anyone would want to retire in.
