Guy Ritchie Expands ‘The Gentlemen’ Universe in Second Season with Hugh Bonneville and Maya Jama Joining the Cast

Netflix confirms filming of ‘The Gentlemen’ season 2 is underway!

The game is back on. Guy Ritchie’s crime-caper-turned-streaming-hit The Gentlemen has officially kicked off production on its second season. Netflix has confirmed filming is underway in the UK, with returning leads Theo James and Kaya Scodelario reprising their roles as Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass—the unlikely duo at the helm of a booming cannabis empire.

But it’s not just business as usual. The new season ushers in a slew of fresh faces. Joining the ensemble is Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville, switching cravats for the criminal underworld, and Love Island host Maya Jama in her first major scripted role.

Ritchie isn’t holding back with this one. “This chapter sees a deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes,” he said in a statement released by Netflix. The shift hints at more complex alliances, greater threats, and plenty of room for chaos.

Season 1’s supporting players are back for round two, including Daniel Ings as Eddie’s reckless older brother Freddy, Ray Winstone as the incarcerated drug kingpin Bobby Glass, and Giancarlo Esposito as American billionaire Stanley Johnston. Vinnie Jones, Joely Richardson, Jasmine Blackborow, and Pearce Quigley also return, adding grit and familiarity to the sprawling ensemble.

The first season chronicled Eddie’s transformation from reluctant aristocrat to savvy crime boss after discovering his family estate concealed a thriving drug operation. Now, as new players emerge and allegiances shift, Ritchie teases a more volatile landscape: “Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they’re besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players. The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious.”

Behind the scenes, Ritchie co-writes with Matthew Read and shares directing duties with Eran Creevy. The series is produced by Moonage Pictures and Miramax Television. Expect sharper edges, higher stakes—and plenty of punch behind every polite smile.
