The Alien universe has long been shrouded in mystery and corporate deception, especially when it comes to Weyland-Yutani’s knowledge of the deadly Xenomorph threat. For decades, fans have debated how much the shadowy corporation really knew before sending Ripley and the Nostromo crew to their doom on LV-426.
Some believe the company was in the dark just like the crew, treating the infamous Special Order 937 as standard protocol. Others think Weyland-Yutani had a clue but underestimated the danger. A vocal faction points to Ash, the sinister android played by Ian Holm, as proof the company deliberately sent the crew into the jaws of death, fully aware of what awaited them.

Now, Noah Hawley, showrunner of the upcoming series Alien: Earth, has dropped a tantalizing hint that the new show might finally clear the air. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Hawley said, “I don’t yet know, in terms of the series from beginning to end, how much time is going to pass or where we’re going to end up. But I do know that at a certain point, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation is going to divert the Nostromo to that planet. We have the opportunity to maybe see what was happening on the other side of that phone call.”
Though he didn’t go into specifics, it’s clear he’s referring to Ash’s secret communications with Weyland-Yutani right after the Nostromo intercepts the alien signal in the 1979 film. This could mean fans will finally witness the corporate decisions that sealed the crew’s fate.

Alien: Earth, executive produced by Ridley Scott, unfolds in 2120, just two years before the original movie. The story centers on Wendy (Sydney Chandler), a synthetic being with the body of an adult but the innocence of a child. Wendy embarks on a perilous mission to recover dangerous cargo from the crashed USCSS Maginot, located in the futuristic Prodigy City.
The cast also includes Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh, Wendy’s synth mentor, alongside Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, and Samuel Blenkin.
Alien: Earth is set to premiere on FX and Hulu in the US on August 12, followed by a UK release on Disney Plus on August 13.
