Andrew Garfield Teases Spider-Man Comeback But There’s One Condition

Andrew Garfield isn’t saying goodbye to Spider-Man just yet. Though there are no confirmed plans for him to return, the actor recently hinted that he’s far from opposed to the idea. Appearing at the Abu Dhabi Comic Con, Garfield was asked the question that’s been on every Marvel fan’s mind: would he ever step back into the Spidey suit? His answer was honest and surprisingly hopeful.

Garfield’s portrayal of Peter Parker gained renewed popularity after his return in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That multiverse-fueled cameo reminded audiences just how compelling his version of the character could be. Since then, fans have rallied behind the idea of giving his Spider-Man another shot maybe even his own film again.

“I’m telling the truth, I actually don’t know,” Garfield said, adding with a laugh, “Even though I know no one believes me.” Despite the uncertainty, he emphasized his openness to another swing through the Marvel universe, as long as the project meets one key criteria:

I would love to play the character again in some capacity, but I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange, I would want to do something very unique, and offbeat and surprising.

Garfield’s comments come at a time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe is actively experimenting with crossover potential and alternate timelines. His emphasis on something “unique” suggests he isn’t just interested in nostalgia; he wants to explore new territory, perhaps taking Peter Parker into unexplored emotional or creative spaces.

With Marvel’s multiverse saga still expanding, the timing could be ideal. Projects like Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Doomsday are expected to feature characters from multiple realities. That would create the perfect narrative excuse to reintroduce Garfield’s Spidey especially with Tom Holland not currently confirmed for either film.

Marvel Studios has yet to make any announcements regarding his return. Still, Garfield’s candid remarks have sparked fresh excitement and speculation. With so many moving pieces in the MCU and the ever-present power of fan demand, the possibility feels more real than ever.

Until Marvel makes its next move, Garfield seems content to wait but clearly, the interest is there. Whether it’s a cameo, a team-up, or something completely unexpected, the web of possibilities remains wide open.
