Lionsgate has released the trailer for the modern reimagining of the original graphic novel and the 1994 cult classic The Crow. The film stars Bill Skarsgård in the iconic role of The Crow.
The 1994 original is a cult favourite, starring the late Brandon Lee who played Eric Draven who returns from the dead to seek vengeance on the gang members who murdered him and his fiancée on the eve of their wedding.

This new version of the story directed by Rupert Sanders sees Skarsgård’s Draven return from the dead to try and save the soul of his murdered partner, here played by FKA Twigs.
The new trailer promises a blood soaked trail of vengeance as Skarsgård chases down those responsible. The official synopsis for the film reads as follows: “Soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”

Early glimpses of The Crow remake have ignited a divided response among fans of the original film and comic book. Even the makers of the original movie have criticized aspects of the character’s design. Director Alex Proyas mocked the chosen hairstyle for Eric, and star Rochelle Davis expressed a desire for the lead cast to bear a closer resemblance to Brandon Lee and for more diversity within the cast.
The Crow, directed by Rupert Sanders will be released in cinemas June 7.
