Despite not yet being released, Apple is showing remarkable confidence in one of its highly anticipated upcoming films. According to a new report from Deadline, a sequel to Wolfs is already in development, with both Brad Pitt and George Clooney set to return.
Wolfs follows the story of a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. When a second fixer arrives on the scene, the two “lone wolves” must reluctantly team up. As the night progresses, they find themselves in increasingly chaotic and unexpected situations.
Jon Watts, the writer and director of the original Wolfs, will return to write and direct the sequel. Additionally, Apple has adjusted its release strategy for Wolfs. Instead of a wide theatrical release, the film will have a limited theatrical run starting on September 20, before premiering globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 27.
This change deviates from the initial plan, where Wolfs was slated for a full theatrical release before its debut on Apple TV+, similar to other Apple Original Films. The revised strategy, which involves a limited theatrical release followed by a global premiere on the platform, may be a response to the underwhelming box office performance of other Apple Original Films, such as Argylle, which did not perform well with a full theatrical release.
The official synopsis for the film reads: “A professional fixer is hired to cover up a high-profile crime. But when a second fixer shows up and the two ‘lone wolves’ are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected.”
Wolfs will hit theaters on September 20 before arriving on Apple TV+ on September 27.
