The long-awaited return to the blood-soaked world of 28 Days Later is almost upon us. Columbia Pictures has dropped the official second trailer for 28 Years Later, the next chapter in the saga that helped redefine modern horror. The new teaser offers a chilling look at a UK still reeling from the virus outbreak that turned humans into frenzied monsters — and it’s more intense than ever.
Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle is back behind the camera, teaming up once again with screenwriter Alex Garland for what’s shaping up to be a bold and brutal return to the franchise. This marks their first direct collaboration since the 2002 original terrified audiences worldwide.

Starring Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes, 28 Years Later launches what’s being called a new trilogy. The first film will set the stage, while the second — titled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple — will be helmed by Candyman director Nia DaCosta. Both films were shot back-to-back, with Garland penning all three entries in the planned trilogy.
While Cillian Murphy’s iconic character Jim is confirmed to return, fans will have to wait for the sequel to see him back in action. His absence in the first installment suggests a larger arc is at play — one that will unfold over the course of the trilogy.

The original 28 Days Later became a landmark in post-apocalyptic cinema, spawning the 2007 follow-up 28 Weeks Later, which received mixed reviews but maintained a strong cult following. Boyle and Garland served only as executive producers on that sequel, leaving many fans to consider 28 Years Later the true spiritual continuation of the story.
With a reported budget of $75 million per film and a release date set for June 20, 2025, 28 Years Later promises a high-octane return to the chaos that started over two decades ago, you can watch the trailer below.
