‘Echo Valley’ Hits Apple TV+ Today A Twisted Tale of Loyalty and Secrets Starring Sydney Sweeney

Blood runs deep in ‘Echo Valley,’ now streaming on Apple TV+.

Sydney Sweeney is trading in teen angst for something far grimmer in Echo Valley, a psychological thriller released today June 13 on Apple TV+. Directed by Beast filmmaker Michael Pearce and written by Mare of Easttown’s Brad Ingelsby, the film sees Sweeney stepping into darker territory and dragging Julianne Moore with her.

Sweeney plays Claire, a young woman in deep personal crisis. When she arrives at her mother Kate’s secluded Pennsylvania horse farm late one night, she’s covered in blood. It’s not her own. What happens next isn’t framed as a mystery, it’s a test of instinct, loyalty, and blurred morality.

Julianne Moore’s Kate doesn’t panic. She acts. The trailer shows her disposing of a body, evading questions, and tightening her grip as her world spins out. As Claire says early on, “I… I need help.” It’s the understatement that sets the entire machine in motion.

The filmmakers describe the story as less about crime and more about what people do to protect the ones they love. Backed by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free banner, Echo Valley leans into a gritty, emotional intensity rather than sharp plot twists or conventional suspense. Domhnall Gleeson co-stars as an inquisitive local, while Kyle MacLachlan, Fiona Shaw, and Edmund Donovan round out the supporting cast.

While the film debuts on streaming today, it’s also getting a limited theatrical run, an increasingly popular move for Apple’s prestige dramas. With awards-season pedigree behind the camera and two high-profile leads in front, Echo Valley positions itself as more than just another weekend watch.

It’s a tight, claustrophobic story that isn’t about how the blood got there, but how long it can stay hidden. For fans of Prisoners and Mare of Easttown, this might be one worth pressing play on today.
