Eddie Murphy will make his long-awaited return as the iconic Axel Foley in this summer’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. Marking 30 years since the release of the less-iconic Beverly Hills Cop 3. Netflix have released the first full trailer after not giving us a glimpse of Murphy as Foley since last Decembers teaser trailer.
‘Axel F‘, catches up with detective Foley who is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to uncover a conspiracy. Kevin Bacon also joins the cast alongside Taylour Paige as Foley’s estranged daughter.
In an interview with People, Murphy spoke about his return to the character and how he struggled with the physical aspects of the film, admitting he prefers to “be on the couch,” saying,
It’s a really physical movie and I had to do some physical stuff,” he said. “I like to be on the couch, I don’t like to be jumping over and shooting and running. And I had to do some jumping and shooting and running. And as a result at the end of the movie, I had a knee brace and my back is messed up. But the movie is gonna be special.
