Eric Bana Leads an Investigation in the Wilderness in Netflix’s ‘Untamed’ Watch the Trailer

A woman’s body is discovered at the foot of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. On the surface, it seems like a tragic fall. But something doesn’t add up. “She was hurt, scared,” says park ranger Naya Vasquez (Lily Santiago) in the newly released trailer for Untamed. “She was running from something.”

Set to premiere globally on July 17, Untamed is a six-episode limited series created by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) and Elle Smith (The Marsh King’s Daughter). The show follows federal agent Kyle Turner (Eric Bana), a specialist in backcountry investigations with the National Park Service’s Investigative Services Branch. What begins as a routine case quickly turns into a dangerous search through remote, treacherous wilderness, a territory both physical and personal.

Turner, played by Bana—who also executive produces—brings quiet intensity to the role of a man still haunted by his past. “Kyle Turner is someone who is much more comfortable in the wild […] than he is with other humans or with the modern world,” Smith explained to TADUM. Elle Smith added, “He can do strength and sensitivity at the same time, which we felt was really rare.”

The supporting cast includes Sam Neill as Paul Souter, Yosemite’s chief park ranger; Lily Santiago as Turner’s newly assigned partner Naya Vasquez; Rosemarie DeWitt as Turner’s ex-wife, Jill; and Wilson Bethel as Shane Maguire, a wildlife officer with a shared past—and possibly more—with Turner.

Tension builds not just from the case, but from what lies off the map. “We have close to a million acres of wilderness,” Souter notes in the trailer. That’s a lot of ground to search and too many places to disappear.

As the team pushes further into uncharted territory, the case becomes a test of survival, intuition, and reckoning. Untamed brings the procedural thriller far from the city and deep into nature, where the rules and the dangers are different. You can watch the trailer below.
