Marvel Studios has released a fresh look at Fantastic Four: First Steps, giving fans a closer glimpse at the upcoming Phase 6 installment and it’s all about one thing: family.
The 75-second trailer offers the first live-action appearance of Franklin Richards, the child of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. In a touching moment, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue reassures her loved ones with: “Whatever life throws at us, we’ll face it together. As a family.”

Marvel’s decision to place emotional connections front and center signals a shift from its usual action-first marketing. But don’t worry there’s still plenty of cosmic mayhem on display. Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer takes a high-speed spin through the trailer, while a towering, ominous Galactus looms in the background. It’s Marvel, after all. You knew the chaos was coming.
But it’s the smaller moments that land strongest. A lighthearted fist bump between Johnny Storm and The Thing sets the tone, while Johnny makes amends with Reed Richards: “I take back every single bad thing I’ve been saying about you.” Meanwhile, the team sports matching new suits a nod from Reed himself. Even the Fantasticar gets a moment to shine, with The Thing behind the controls.

And yes, there’s a nod to a fan-favorite catchphrase. When Johnny asks, “Is it clobbering time?” The Thing doesn’t deliver the full line but answers with a gravelly, “Oh yeah!” It’s a wink, not a wallop, but the full moment will likely be saved for the big screen.
Director Matt Shakman has cited deep inspiration from the comics. “In preparation for Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps, I delved into the 60-plus years of comics history,” he wrote in the foreword to Fantastic Four: Solve Everything, according to Variety. “Marvel’s First Family has been continuously cared for by the best and brightest the company had to offer.”
With tickets now on sale, for it’s 25 July release, Marvel’s message is clear: gear up for a story that blends science and spectacle. With stakes both cosmic and personal, this could be the reset button the MCU needs — and maybe, just maybe, a return to form.
