Just when it seemed the curtain had fallen for good, Ted Lasso is stepping back onto the pitch. Season 4 of the globally adored Apple TV+ series is officially moving forward, with filming set to begin this July.
Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond’s formidable boss Rebecca Welton, revealed the news during an interview with Capital FM. “We start shooting in July,” Waddingham said. “We thought we’d mourned the loss, and now it’s rising from the dead!”

The Emmy-winning show had its apparent farewell with Season 3, as Ted returned home to Kansas. But that ending, it turns out, wasn’t the final whistle. Jason Sudeikis, the mustachioed optimist who plays the title character, will return to reprise his role, reuniting with co-stars Waddingham and Juno Temple, who plays Keeley.
While much of the cast remains under wraps, familiar names are already locked in. Brett Goldstein, aka Roy Kent, hasn’t confirmed if he’ll appear on screen, but he is back behind it. He’s returning as a writer and executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence, Jack Burditt, and others.

As for what to expect from the upcoming season, Waddingham gave a small glimpse into the room where the magic happens. “Our writers are literally Jedi Knights. They’re just incredible. And we’ve got like a full room of real feminist men. So we’ve got all the fabulous women there, and the men that are in there, and I think you really see it in the scripts… it’s just so beautifully drawn,” she told Capital FM.
Another possible twist? The women’s team. Season 3 ended with Rebecca and Keeley tossing around the idea, whether that thread is picked up remains to be seen.
No premiere date has been confirmed, but with production about to kick off, a return to the Premier League of streaming TV could be closer than fans think. For now, Seasons 1–3 remain available to binge on Apple TV+.
