Deliver Me From Nowhere

Jeremy Allen White Becomes The Boss in Springsteen Biopic ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere ‘

From The Bear to The Boss!

The first trailer for Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere has landed, offering a moody, stripped-down glimpse into the making of Bruce Springsteen’s stark 1982 album Nebraska. The film stars The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White, trading kitchen meltdowns for lo-fi melancholy as he steps into the role of The Boss himself.

Directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart), the film doesn’t take the usual biopic route. This isn’t about Bruce conquering stadiums, it’s about him confronting himself. Nebraska was recorded solo, away from the E Street Band, on a four-track recorder in a New Jersey bedroom. It was raw, confessional, and quiet. The trailer leans into that vibe, showing White hunched over a mic in a motel, harmonica in hand, shadows falling heavy.

We see flashbacks of Springsteen’s blue-collar upbringing, with Stephen Graham as his hard-nosed father. Paul Walter Hauser plays Mike Batlan, the engineer who helped capture the album’s haunting tone. Jeremy Strong appears as longtime producer Jon Landau, delivering this piercing assessment: “With the album, he’s repairing that hole in himself. Once he’s done with that, he’s going to repair the entire world,” as heard in the trailer.

Though Deliver Me From Nowhere focuses on Nebraska, fans won’t be left completely high and dry. There’s a taste of full-band euphoria too, including a roaring performance of ‘Born to Run,‘ reportedly staged to mirror the famed 1979 No Nukes show.

The cast also includes Odessa Young, Marc Maron, Gaby Hoffmann, and David Krumholtz. The music is overseen by producer Dave Cobb, known for his work with Springsteen. The screenplay is adapted by Cooper from Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name.

Speaking at CinemaCon earlier this year, White said making the film was a “dream come true,” and added, “I feel really lucky. We all had Bruce’s blessing on this film.” ( via The Hollywood Reporter)

Whether the film can satisfy longtime fans while scoring points with awards voters remains to be seen. But with its October 24 release via 20th Century Studios, it’s set to make some noise.
