New York Falls Under A Spectral Death Chill In Final ‘Ghostbusters Frozen Empire’ Trailer

Ghostbusters young & old tackle an “unimaginable evil.”

Sony has released the final trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire wherein the Spengler family returns to where it all began in New York City. They team up with the original Ghostbusters at the iconic New York City firehouse.

Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) have been busy developing a top-secret research lab and have revolutionized ghostbusting. They join forces in the city with franchise newcomers from the Spengler family Callie (Carrie Coon), Trevor (Finn Wolfhard), Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Paul Rudd’s Gary Grooberson is along for the ride.

The final trailer opens with Patton Oswalt’s Hubert Wartzki delivering a chilling warning: “For the first time in New York history, a room full of people, froze to death…in July.” Followed by Aykroyd’s Ray Stantz describing the threat as an “unimaginable evil.”

The discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes the evil force, a terrifying icy threat known as the “Death Chill,” the Ghostbusters, both young and old, must utilize their new technology to save the world from a potential ice age, as New York starts to freeze over.

In an interview with Total Film, director Gil Kenan has expressed that he already has ideas to continue the franchise. Although further sequels have yet to be commissioned by Sony, Kenan emphasized that if the audience appetite is there, he would continue, saying:

“Jason and I really love Ghostbusters. We love these characters and we would be really happy if audiences were down to keep going on adventures with them. If audiences feel this way, then we know what the next stories are going to be.”
