‘Nobody 2’ Unleashes Sharon Stone as a Ruthless Villain: ‘She Just Goes Batshit Crazy!’

The adrenaline-fueled sequel to Nobody arrives this August, bringing back Bob Odenkirk’s Hutch Mansell, who thought he was finally off the violent grid. Instead, a family holiday spirals into chaos, with a new formidable foe waiting in the wings: Sharon Stone.

In the original 2021 hit directed by Ilya Naishuller, Hutch revealed his dark, deadly side after a home invasion shattered his quiet life. Now, under the direction of Indonesian action maestro Timo Tjahjanto, Nobody 2 sees Hutch attempting a normal vacation with his wife and kids, only to find the resort overrun by criminals. Stone’s character, Lendina, emerges as a venomous adversary who “is like a snake,” Tjahjanto told Empire. “Sometimes she plays it calm and sometimes she just goes batshit crazy!”

Landing the role of Lendina was a surprise even to the director. “I thought we could never get Sharon Stone,” Tjahjanto said. “We sent a script and a couple of days later I was sitting on her couch, telling her about this character. She was like, ‘Alright, Timo, I’m fucking in.’ It was surreal.” Stone herself was unsure at first if she still had the fire for such a role after her stroke two decades ago. “I literally did not know, ‘Do I still have her in me?’” she shared. “Am I going to be able to come in here and make people believe that I can be this ass-kicking hyper-villain?’” Spoiler alert: she nailed it.

Odenkirk praised Stone’s presence on set, calling her “powerful.” He added, “She never stops thinking. She might as well be a 22-year-old comedy writer, for all the thoughts and ideas going through her head.”

The film moves away from suburban shootouts to a chaotic seaside town where Hutch’s holiday turns into a war zone. Alongside the intense action, expect a sharp blend of humor and brutal fights, with everything from whack-a-mole hammers to pinball machines put to use. RZA returns as Hutch’s ally Harry, adding another layer of mayhem.

Four years after he inadvertently took on the Russian mob, Hutch remains $30 million in debt to the criminal organization and is working it off with an unending string of hits on international thugs. Much as he likes the slam-bang action of his ‘job,’ Hutch and his wife Becca find themselves overworked and drifting apart. So, they decide to take their kids (Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath) on a short getaway with Hutch’s dad (Christopher Lloyd) in tow. When a minor encounter with some town bullies yanks the family into the crosshairs of a corrupt theme-park operator and his shady sheriff, Hutch finds himself the focus of the most unhinged, blood-thirsty crime boss he (or anyone) has ever encountered.

Nobody 2 hits theaters August 15 via Universal Pictures. The screenplay is by Derek Kolstad and Aaron Rabin, with producers including Odenkirk and David Leitch. The trailer’s soundtrack nods to National Lampoon’s Vacation with Lindsey Buckingham’s “Holiday Road,” but don’t expect family-friendly fun…this one’s rated R and ready to explode.
