Amazon have dropped the trailer for Doug Liman’s Road House a remake of the 80’s classic which starred Patrick Swayze. Described as an “adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic” the story follows a retired Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter named Dalton who is played by Jake Gyllenhaal.
The trailer also sees Irish MMA and UFC legend Conor McGregor make his acting debut and he introduces himself delightfully by entering the roadhouse screaming “Hey fellas, looks like you’re having a smashing night!” as he proceeds to smash up the venue with a golf club.
The official synopsis for the film reads, An ex-UFC middleweight fighter ends up working at a rowdy bar in the Florida Keys where things are not as they seem.
The filmmakers have had some issues regarding Amazon’s decision for its release strategy and director Doug Liman publicly criticised them for not giving it a theatrical release. Joel Silver’s push for a theatrical release caused him to be fired from the film for ‘verbally abusive misconduct’.
Alongside Gyllenhaal & McGregor the cast also includes Daniela Melchior, Joaquim de Almedia, Billy Magnussen, Lukas Gage, Darren Barnett, and Beau Knapp.
Road House will be available to stream on Prime Video from March 21.
