Paramount has released the first trailer for Smile 2, the highly anticipated horror sequel will look to build on the unexpected success of the 2022 horror sensation Smile, the sequel introduces a fresh cast of characters within the same terrifyingly eerie universe.
The new protagonist is Naomi Scott’s Skye Riley, an international pop star who is terrorized by the smiling faces while on a major tour. The trailer shows her being haunted by the ‘Smile’ demon, as Lukas Gage’s character violently hits himself with a weight.
Originally planned for a streaming release on Paramount+, Smile went to theaters in September 2022 following hugely positive test screenings. The film became one of the highest-grossing horror movies of the year, earning over $217 million worldwide.
The film chronicles an evil, relentless demon that compels its victims to suicide by manifesting as various human figures adorned with sinister, haunting smiles.
Smile 2 will look to propel Parker Finn’s franchise to even greater success. The official synopsis reads: About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.
Smile 2 is written and directed by Parker Finn and will be released in theaters October 18.
