Sydney Sweeney and Julianne Moore Get Tangled in a Bloody Secret in ‘Echo Valley’

Sydney Sweeney Is in Trouble and Julianne Moore Is Cleaning It Up.

Sydney Sweeney is trading in teen angst for something far grimmer in Echo Valley, a psychological thriller set to hit Apple TV+ on June 13. Directed by Beast filmmaker Michael Pearce and written by Mare of Easttown’s Brad Ingelsby, the film sees Sweeney stepping into darker territory — and dragging Julianne Moore with her.

Sweeney plays Claire, a troubled young woman battling addiction who suddenly appears at her mother Kate’s rural home, drenched in blood. The blood isn’t hers. With that, Echo Valley launches into a tense and tightly coiled story about trust, trauma, and the brutal limits of maternal devotion.

Kate, played by Moore, doesn’t ask many questions — at least not at first. She acts. And fast. As the trailer reveals, she buries the body, dodges an inquisitive friend (Domhnall Gleeson), and tries to maintain a grip on her own unraveling emotions. “I… I need help,” Claire says in the trailer’s opening. The understatement lands like a punch.

The trailer deepens as we meet more of the ensemble, including Fiona Shaw, Kyle MacLachlan, and Edmund Donovan, who plays Claire’s late boyfriend. His death isn’t as straightforward as it seems, and the stakes only get murkier from there. It looks a story of guilt and survival — about how far love can push you past your moral edge.

Backed by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Films and Kevin J. Walsh’s The Walsh Company, Echo Valley looks to blend the emotional grit of Mare of Easttown with the slow-burn intensity of Prisoners. With Pearce’s direction and Ingelsby’s pen, it’s poised to be a strong summer entry in the streaming thriller game.

The film will receive a limited theatrical run in addition to its Apple TV+ debut — a move that’s becoming more common and hints at awards potential or, at the very least, confidence in its stars. If you’re wondering how far a mother would go to protect her child, Echo Valley might just have an unsettling answer. You can check out the trailer below.
