The First ‘Alien: Earth’ Trailer Teases Corporate War and Creature Chaos

The horror comes home in first ‘Alien: Earth’ Trailer!

FX is bringing terror back, this time to Earth. The first full trailer for Alien: Earth, the long-awaited small screen entry in the Alien franchise, has officially landed. This marks the franchise’s maiden voyage into television, and the monsters have followed it home.

Set over a century before Ridley Scott’s original 1979 film, Alien: Earth takes place in 2120, during a time when corporate giants hold more power than governments. The plot kicks off when a mysterious ship crashes on Earth, unleashing something ancient, deadly, and all too familiar. But the Xenomorphs aren’t the only nightmares crawling out of the wreckage.

The show introduces audiences to a new power structure: five mega-corporations—Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold—rule a world teetering on the edge of technological revolution. In the shadows of this corporate war, a young hybrid named Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler, finds herself caught between innovation and annihilation.

Showrunner Noah Hawley, known for Fargo, sets the tone for a series that digs into more than just horror. It’s also a tale of artificial evolution, as companies rush to dominate the future by building synthetic and hybrid life. According to FX’s official synopsis, “a ragtag group of tactical soldiers” teams up with Wendy to confront an emerging threat that’s more monstrous than anything they’ve faced before.

The synopsis reads: When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, ‘Wendy’ and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat. In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named Wendy marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

The cast brings together an impressive ensemble, including Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, and Samuel Blenkin. Gourav, who plays Slightly, told Variety, “It’s set in the future, and it’s very exciting for me, because I got to be part of like a sci-fi horror, psychological thriller show… My knowledge about sci-fi is very limited, but psychological thriller and horror is my go-to genre to watch.”

The eight-episode season premieres August 12 on FX and Hulu in the U.S., and on Disney+ internationally. The first two episodes drop that night, with new episodes airing weekly through late September.
