Watch ‘The Bikeriders’ Trailer Austin Butler and Tom Hardy Lead Motorcycle Gang Into Drug Running And Violence

Tom Hardy leads 60’s era motorcycle gang.

Austin Butler returns to the 60’s and Tom Hardy returns to gangster driven drama in The Bikeriders. Set in 1965, “the golden age of bike riders.” According to Jodie Comer as she explains her introduction to the bikers in the new trailer.

Written and directed by Jeff Nichols. It tells a story inspired by the 1968 photo-book of the same name by Danny Lyon. Lyon rode with and photographed the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club for two years beginning in 1963.

The film follows biker gang leader Johnny (Tom Hardy) as he mentors his potential successor and number two Benny (Austin Butler) as they grow the bikers descend into criminality, violence, prostitution and drug dealing.

The trailer also features major contributions from Jodie Comer & Michael Shannon. Comer’s character Kathy pleads with Benny to quit the group.

In an interview with Deadline writer and director Jeff Nichols explains how the film came together and that he didn’t want to glamorize gang culture.

“I’ve been thinking about this for 20 years,” he says, after reading Lyons book in 2003 “These are not people we want to idolize, but that doesn’t mean they’re not attractive.”
