Adam Sandler is gearing up to hit the links once again, the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2 will see the return of Sandler’s brash, hockey-stick-wielding golfer, now paired with a surprising sidekick, global music star Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio).
A new look image, shared exclusively by Entertainment Weekly as part of its Summer Preview, shows Sandler back in his trademark Boston Bruins jersey and wielding his infamous slapshot swing. Standing beside him is Bad Bunny, dressed for the fairway and focused on the game, stepping into the role of Happy’s new caddy.

While fans will remember Otto, the quirky, bearded caddy from the original film played by Allen Covert, it looks like the Grammy-winning artist is poised to shake things up. Covert is reportedly returning as Otto, but the teaser trailer hinted that it’s Bad Bunny who will be by Happy’s side for most of the mayhem this time. Expect chaos: golf carts will be crashed, clubs broken, and tempers flared.
Happy Gilmore 2 brings with it a loaded cast. Sandler reunites with familiar faces Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, and Covert, while a wave of fresh cameos tees off, including appearances from Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Paige Spiranac, Bryson DeChambeau, and even Travis Kelce. Kid Cudi, MJF, and John Daly are also among the eclectic ensemble. Behind the scenes, Sandler once again co-wrote the script with longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy. This time, Kyle Newacheck steps into the director’s chair.

Beyond the laughs and golf balls flying at warp speed, the film will also serve as a tribute to a beloved original cast member: Carl Weathers. The late actor, who played the wise and endlessly quotable Chubbs Peterson, will be honored throughout the film. “You can’t make Happy Gilmore without Chubbs Peterson, it doesn’t exist,” director Newacheck told Collider. “You can be assured his spirit is throughout the film. He may not be by Happy’s side anymore, but he’s on his shoulder.”
Happy Gilmore 2 is scheduled to stream on Netflix starting July 25, 2025.
