Adam Sandler Returns in Netflix’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Trailer, Packed with Stars and Surprise Cameos

Happy Gilmore 2 Brings Back Sandler, McDonald, and a Roster of New Faces!

After nearly three decades, Happy Gilmore is dusting off the driver. The first full trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 has landed, and Adam Sandler’s iconic hot-headed golfer is officially back in action, this time courtesy of Netflix. The sequel is set to stream on July 25, bringing with it a mix of nostalgia, fresh faces, and a few perfectly-placed zingers.

Debuting during Netflix’s Tudum fan event in Los Angeles, the trailer reintroduces Sandler’s character as he grapples with an evolving sport and a new roster of challengers. “I haven’t swung a club in years,” he admits in the clip. “I’m a little intimidated. All these guys hit it big now.” The quote, first released in earlier footage, perfectly tees up the sequel’s premise: the return of a man out of practice but not out of fight.

Fans of the original 1996 comedy will be glad to see familiar names returning. Julie Bowen is back as Virginia Venit, and Christopher McDonald once again dons the smug swagger of Shooter McGavin. Dennis Dugan, who directed the first film, returns both behind the scenes and in front of the camera as golf commissioner Doug Thompson.

But this is no simple reunion tour. The sequel also stacks the leaderboard with unexpected cameos: Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, Kid Cudi, Margaret Qualley, and Benny Safdie. A who’s-who of PGA talent, including Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas, round out the cast. If the original had celebrity flair, the sequel looks downright crowded with it.

Behind the scenes, Sandler reteamed with longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy to write the script. Directing duties went to Kyle Newacheck, known for Workaholics and Murder Mystery, the latter also starring Sandler. The formula is familiar, but the fun looks just the same. And yes, the trailer ends with a classic callback to one of Sandler’s most quotable lines. You’ll know it when you hear it.

Ben Stiller is back in the mix, and newcomers like Margaret Qualley and Kym Whitley are onboard. Notably, Eminem also makes an appearance, signaling that the film’s cameo game is in overdrive. It’s not just about laughs this time, it’s about scale. Sandler’s building a comedy universe around one of his most iconic roles, and it looks like anything can happen on this course.
