Amanda Seyfried has confirmed that a sequel to Jennifer’s Body is in the works, but she’s only interested if Megan Fox returns. The cult horror film, which originally hit theaters in 2009, has gained a devoted following over the years, and now, nearly two decades later, talks of a second installment are becoming a reality.
During a recent Actors on Actors conversation with Variety, Seyfried revealed the news to her former co-star Adam Brody. “We’re making another one,” she told him definitively. Brody, who played Nikolai, the sinister lead singer of Low Shoulder, responded with curiosity: “I heard, what can you tell me?”

The original film followed Seyfried’s character, Anita “Needy” Lesnicki, as she navigated the horrifying transformation of her best friend Jennifer (Fox) into a flesh-eating demon after a botched ritual sacrifice. While both Fox and Brody’s characters met their demise in the first film, Seyfried hinted that the sequel will find a way to bring them back.
Seyfried asked Brody, “Are you going to do it?” He replied that he hadn’t been contacted and pointed out, his character died. “But so did Megan, and I’m not doing it without her,” she stated. She also suggested that Brody should take on the role of the devil this time around.

Seyfried reveled the sequel is being spearheaded by producer Mason Novick, who worked on the original film alongside Jason Reitman and Daniel Dubiecki. Seyfried also mentioned that director Karyn Kusama, who helmed the first movie, may be involved in the new project.
Despite its initial box office struggles, grossing only $31 million worldwide on a $16 million budget, the film has found new life through streaming platforms and social media, particularly TikTok. Its resurgence has cemented Jennifer’s Body as a cult classic, making the prospect of a sequel all the more exciting.
As for the title of the new film, Seyfried had a suggestion when Brody asked what it should be called: “Needy’s Body”. Whether that name sticks remains to be seen, but one thing is certain, the return of Jennifer’s Body looks to be officially in motion.
