Netflix has officially launched American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden as of May 14, bringing a tense, deep-dive documentary to screens across the globe. Initially set to premiere back in March, the three-part series was postponed without warning, sparking a wave of confusion among subscribers. Netflix later clarified the delay was due to a “scheduling shift,” but gave no specific reasons. The wait, however, is now over.

Crumpton, and others from the Department of Defense, FBI, and Obama-era White House, the series seeks to humanize the operation. The directors make it clear: this is not a sweeping chronicle of the War on Terror. “It tells the story of the people tasked to find the world’s most wanted terrorist and bring him to justice,” they said. “It [was] a hunt that changed their lives, America, and the world as we know it.”
