Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and after 5 years Jason Momoa will return as Arthur Curry the half human, half Atlantean hero Aquaman, as he now sits on the throne of Atlantis.
The sequel will see him team up with his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) to fight ruthless pirate David Kane aka Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen).
The new trailer does not feature Amber Heard at all, leading to speculation that her already reduced role could have been cut even further.
The new trailer focusses heavily on Arthur Curry’s family ties, the fact that he now has a baby son and that the threat to him and his immediate family is brewing with the trailer exemplifying Black Manta’s desire to kill them.
Alongside Momoa & Wilson the cast also includes, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Temuera Morrison & Dolph Lundgren.
The official synopsis for the film reads, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be in theaters December 22.
