The official description from Apple TV reads: Acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realise she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets.

As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and their son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The ensemble cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon, and features Indira Varma as the narrator.

The teaser builds tension with a series of gripping scenes, like Blanchett narrowly escaping a car and a couple holding hands on a dreary beach. As these striking moments flash by, a voiceover warns, “Beware of narrative and form,” while close-up shots of the characters fill the screen. She continues, “Their power can bring us closer to the truth, but because of our own deeply held beliefs and the judgments that we make, they can also be a weapon with a great power to manipulate,” setting a chilling tone.

Before its streaming debut, the series will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September, showcasing several episodes. Disclaimer premieres on Apple TV+ on October 11, kicking off with the first two episodes. Subsequent episodes will drop every Friday until the finale on November 15.
