Cliff Booth To Return? Brad Pitt’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Spin-Off Gains Momentum with Rumored Title

From Stuntman to Studio Fixer!?

A new chapter is being written in Quentin Tarantino’s Hollywood fairytale but this time, someone else is holding the pen. Acclaimed director David Fincher is stepping in to helm a follow-up to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, shifting the spotlight squarely onto Brad Pitt’s character, Cliff Booth.

In an unexpected twist tucked inside a Deadline piece on new hit Sinners, a major reveal quietly surfaced: Fincher’s next directorial project is reportedly titled The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth. Even more intriguing, the film is set to reimagine Brad Pitt’s character not just as a stuntman, but as a behind-the-scenes problem-solver in the underbelly of the studio system.

The upcoming project, will trade the theatrical glitz of the original for a streaming-first approach. Netflix has picked up the project, which is expected to enter production this July in California. While plot details are still under wraps, the story is said to explore Booth’s life beyond the events of the 2019 film.

This marks the first major expansion of the Once Upon a Time universe since its release. Though written by Tarantino, the director has opted not to return to the helm. Instead, the script was handed off—reportedly with Pitt’s encouragement—to Fincher, whose past collaborations with the actor (Se7en, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) remain among his most iconic.

Don’t expect Leonardo DiCaprio to play a central role this time around. While his character, Rick Dalton, was integral to the original, early reports suggest he’ll either be absent or appear only briefly. With Fincher’s signature style and Netflix’s backing, Cliff Booth could end up being less of a nostalgia trip and more of a psychological deep dive into a character who was never quite what he seemed.

There’s no official release date yet, but with filming set to start this summer and post-production likely stretching into next year, a 2026 debut seems probable. Between Pitt’s star power, Fincher’s craftsmanship, and Tarantino’s storytelling DNA, this is one Hollywood story fans won’t want to miss.
