Apple TV has unveiled the first trailer for their upcoming LA-based noir series, Sugar. It stars Colin Farrell as a private investigator named John Sugar.
Described as a genre-bending contemporary take on the private detective story set in Los Angeles, the trailer gives off a vibe reminiscent of Michael Mann’s Collateral, but mixed with old-school noir elements such as voice-over narration from the protagonist.
The series follows private investigator John Sugar as he examines the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the granddaughter of a legendary Hollywood producer.
Sugar is directed by Brazilian filmmaker Fernando Meirelles, and alongside Farrell the cast also includes Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler and Alex Hernandez.
Apple TV+ will premiere Sugar with two episodes on April 5th, with the following six episodes rolling out weekly on Fridays.
