After initially being dropped by Showtime after just one season, after poor reviews. Amazon Prime Video has brought Jeff Daniels back as the dejected police chief Del Harris in American Rust: Broken Justice.
Season One of American Rust delves into the aftermath of a devastating murder in a small town in Pennsylvania. The story revolves around the lives of various residents, particularly focusing on the town’s police chief, Del Harris. The murder sets off a chain of events that unearth long-buried secrets and tensions within the community. Del Harris finds himself torn between his duty as a law enforcement officer and his personal connections when he becomes compromised by the accusation that the son of the woman he loves (Maura Tierney) is involved in a murder.
The trailer for the second season sees the return to the fictional town of Buell, where Del and Grace Poe (Maura Tierney) are trying to rebuild their lives. But after Del’s return to work, it seems as if a series of seemingly unrelated murders may add up to a wider conspiracy. With Del questioning “We never really do move on, do we?”
Based on the book by Philipp Meyer the second season will see returning cast members, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, Julie Mayorga, Mark Pellegrino, Rob Yang and Kyle Beltran.
Joining the cast for Season 2 are Luna Lauren Velez as Detective Angela Burgos, Marc Menchaca as Vic Walker, Nick Sandow as Mike Orr, Britian Seibert as Cynthia Frazier, Christopher Denham as Russell Wolff and Sara Lindsey as Maya Park.
Dan Futterman returns as showrunner and executive produces alongside Daniels and others.
