Illumination have dropped the trailer for Despicable Me 4 which will be the sixth installment in their long-running franchise. Steve Carell’s reformed supervillain Gru will return this summer for a new adventure when an enemy from Gru’s past, Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina Maxime (Sofia Vergara) target the family.
Despicable Me 4‘s trailer also introduces a new addition to the family, Gru Jr and the baby is certainly NOT a daddy’s boy but the family are thrust into action to defend themselves. Gru and Jr perform a heist alongside mischievous minions, where he accidently drugs himself and encounters an angry honey badger.
It was however critically panned and was the first film in the franchise to receive a Rotten Tomatoes Splat at 59% and it faired even worse with audiences sitting at 53%.
Alongside, Carell, Ferrell & Vergara the cast also includes the vocal talents of Kristen Wiig, Joey King, Miranda Cosgrove, Stephen Colbert, Steve Coogan, Chloe Fineman and the Minions are voiced as always by Pierre Coffin.
Despicable Me 4 will hit US cinemas on July 3 and will be just over a week later in the UK July 12.
