Earth Is Uninhabitable In Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Breathe’

Warner Bros. has released the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi thriller, Breathe. The film follows Jennifer Hudson and her family as they confront the end of the world, with Earth rendered uninhabitable due to a severe lack of oxygen.

The Oscar-winning actress plays Maya who is seen taking refuge with her daughter played by Quvenzhané Wallis in a devastated New York City.

The official synopsis for the film reads as follows: “A heart-pounding thriller set in the future.  After Earth is left uninhabitable due to lack of oxygen, a mother Maya and her daughter Zora are forced to live underground, with short trips to the surface only made possible by a coveted state of the art oxygen suit made by Maya’s husband, Darius, whom she presumes to be dead. When a mysterious couple arrives claiming to know Darius and his fate, Maya tentatively agrees to let them into their bunker but these visitors are not who they claim to be ensuing in mother and daughter fighting for survival.”

Alongside Hudson & Wallis the film has an excellent cast that includes Common as a scientist and Maya’s husband Darius, Milla Jovovich as stranger Tess who approaches the family in mysterious circumstances and Sam Worthington.

The upcoming thriller is directed by Stefon Bristol and written by Doug Simon. In an Interview with People Bristol describes the film saying, “It’s a story about a mother and daughter who are at odds, fighting to survive,” they have to learn to trust each other, because one small mistake will mean agonizing death. What family can’t relate to that?”

Breathe will be in theaters and on digital April 26.
