Jennifer Lopez’s next Netflix outing is a sci-fi adventure where we are told, “The future of humanity is in her hands.” Lopez embarks on a solo mission to save mankind, aided by a well-armed robot suit.
Directed by Brad Peyton, Atlas centers on Atlas Shepherd (Lopez), a data analyst who must set aside her mistrust of AI when things go haywire on a mission to apprehend a rogue robot with which she has some history.

Lopez’s last Netflix appearance was in the 2023 thriller The Mother, which proved to be a huge hit for the streaming service. However, recent action films like Heart of Stone have bombed, and fellow sci-fi Rebel Moon has faced criticism. Atlas needs to be more than just another generic Netflix movie. With Lopez on board, though, it seems primed for success.
The official synopsis for Atlas reads as follows: Atlas Shepherd, a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence, joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past. But when plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.

Alongside Lopez who is also producing, the cast also includes, Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Lana Parrilla, Stephanie Heiner and Mark Strong. All working from a script by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite.
Atlas will arrive on Netflix on May 24.
