Robert Eggers returns to his horror roots with a bold reimagining of the classic vampire tale, Nosferatu. This latest project plunges him into the depths of gothic terror, promising an epic and visually stunning rendition of the legendary story.
Starring the versatile Bill Skarsgård, the trailer provides the first look at his portrayal of the vampire. Alongside him, Lily-Rose Depp stars as Ellen Hunter, with Nicholas Hoult playing her husband, Thomas.

The moody trailer doesn’t reveal much plot, simply immersing viewers in a world of atmospheric dread. The Victorian setting is lavishly realized, and ominous candle-lit tableaux add to the eerie feel. It looks to promise a visually stunning and deeply unsettling experience.
While there has been no shortage of vampire movies in recent years, including a couple of lackluster Dracula films released by Universal Pictures just last year, Robert Eggers’ remake of the German Expressionist masterpiece Nosferatu, originally released over a century ago, stands out as the first genuine attempt in 30 years to revive the captivating allure of vampire folklore.

While the trailer cleverly avoids revealing Skarsgård’s face, Count Orlok’s haunting presence is felt, teasing audiences with glimpses of his dark silhouette. Joining Skarsgård, Depp & Hoult in the cast are Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson and Simon McBurney.
With Eggers’ talent for crafting slow-building tension and atmospheric dread, we can only hope for it to be a full-throttle Robert Eggers experience.
Nosferatu is due in theaters this Christmas.
