After speculation in March about her potential role in the next Jurassic World installment, Scarlett Johansson has now officially confirmed her participation. Speaking about the project, she expressed her excitement over the project’s “incredible” script.
The upcoming seventh installment of the Jurassic Park franchise promises a fresh storyline and setting, introducing a new cast of characters. Although specific plot details are still under wraps, the film is expected to continue from the events of Jurassic World Dominion.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, Johansson excitedly discussed her upcoming role in Jurassic World 4, expressing her long-held desire to be part of the franchise. She also hinted at the quality of David Koepp’s script, suggesting that the film will live up to the high standards set by previous beloved installments in the series.
I’m an enormous Jurassic Park fan. It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am. The script is so incredible. David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He’s so passionate about it, which is so awesome.

Having recently concluded her decade-long tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Johansson revealed her longstanding admiration for the beloved dinosaur franchise. She admitted that she has been trying to join the series for nearly a decade, with her interest sparking around the 2015 release of Jurassic World, which revitalized the saga twenty-two years after its inception.
I’m such an enormous fan of the franchise and huge nerd for it. I’m just like, I can’t even, I’m pinching myself, I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over ten years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable.

Johansson joins a cast that reportedly includes Rupert Friend, Jonathan Bailey, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, among other stars. Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali was also said to be involved in the project in May, though his role remains unclear. The untitled Jurassic World movie, directed by Gareth Edwards, is currently undergoing principal photography and is set for release on July 2, 2025.
With Koepp penning the script and Johansson’s enthusiasm for both the franchise and the new story provides optimism that this film will be a valuable addition to the series.
