Prime Video has dropped a first glimpse at Spider-Noir, the upcoming live-action series led by Nicolas Cage. Revealed during Amazon’s 2025 upfront presentation, the image sees Cage fully suited up in the signature monochrome attire—fedora, trench coat, and stark white goggles—bringing the gritty vigilante of 1930s New York to life.
Though fans will recognize the character from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this isn’t a direct continuation. While Cage voices the same noir-inspired Spider-Man in Sony’s animated films, this new series charts its own path, drawing inspiration from the Spider-Man Noir comic line. It tells “the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”

Spider-Noir is being developed by co-showrunners Oren Uziel (The Lost City) and Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal), with Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) directing the first two episodes. Behind the scenes, the series is backed by an impressive creative team including Spider-Verse veterans Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.
Joining Cage on screen are Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Jack Huston, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, and Karen Rodriguez. Cage, speaking to The New Yorker in a previous profile, hinted at a noir world filled with monsters and a visual aesthetic that nods to Roy Lichtenstein’s pop art. The show is expected to run for eight episodes, each around 45 minutes.

In a stylish twist, viewers will be able to watch the series in either traditional black-and-white or color, depending on their preferred flavor of pulp, which is a smart move from Amazon, as it will encourage multiple rewatches.
Spider-Noir will premiere first on MGM+ in the U.S. before hitting Prime Video for global audiences the following day. A full release is scheduled for 2026. If the first look is anything to go by, this is a series that’s not afraid to lean into its shadowy roots—and Nicolas Cage, ever the wildcard, seems ready to make this web-slinger his own.
