Warner Bros. have dropped the trailer for their new monster sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The trailer shows that the hollow earth will be a larger part of the story, with Godzilla & Kong teaming up to take on a new enemy.
In 2021 Godzilla vs. Kong served as a crossover between the Godzilla and King Kong franchises. Directed by Adam Wingard, the film follows the epic clash between the two iconic titans as they engage in a colossal battle for supremacy. The New Empire takes the threat to the next level which necessitates the alliance. On the discovery of a huge hand print Rebecca Hall’s Ilene Andrews declares “That’s not Kong,” “What could of done this.”
The official synopsis for the film reads, “This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
Alongside Hall the cast includes Brian Tyree Henry & Kaylee Hottle with Dan Stevens joining the monsterverse in a lead role.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is directed by Adam Wingard and written by Terry Rossio, Jeremy Slater and Simon Barrett.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is due cinemas March 29, 2024.
